Digital Solutions in Melanoma Cancer - Engaging the Patient
21 Aug 2019

This is the fifth interim report from our current project on digital solutions in oncology engaging the patient. More details about the project can be found here

Through this work, we aim to share results based on our engagement with different stakeholders via our dedicated LinkedIn group. This group is open to all who are interested in this area of research and in contributing with valuable insight to further develop this project.

The previous blogs included in this project, can be accessed via the links below:

Majority of the digital solutions highlighted in this report are offered through mobile applications. Below is the provisional list of 26 digital solutions and the corresponding developing organization, addressing Melanoma.

These digital solutions primarily provide a wide range of features that are useful for melanoma patients, these are listed below. The first two categories are unique for melanoma since the disease state is visible to patients and easy for them to self-analyze.

  • Photo based guidance on body changes (suggesting diagnosis based on photos taken of moles)
  • Visual follow-up for body changes (logging photos to compare any changes in a mole)
  • Patient education
  • Patient assistance
  • Predicting /Risk calculator/Early detection
  • Patient reported outcomes in Oncology

Overall, the purpose of this report is to promote further discussions on the topic of melanoma cancer and other digital solutions in oncology. Therefore, we would appreciate feedback about other solutions that could enrich our findings and help advance this project. Please feel free to engage on the LinkedIn group where you can share further comments or questions.
